Episode 33 – Phil’s Flank Steak

For this episode, which was the second one we ever recorded, we had on our friend Phil from Philadelphia, otherwise known as Rugbylthr! He was in town visiting family and we hadn’t seen him in a while, so what more perfect timing could we have in order to talk a friend into letting us ask all about his kinks!

We take the time with him to discuss what it is like to be a volunteer for Mid-Atlantic Leather weekend (MAL) and being a part of the leather club scene on the east coast. He also shares the hilarious story that involves Flank Steak. A LOT of flank steak!

This has been an episode that we have been looking forward to posting ever since we recorded it!

Episode 32 – Daddies Talking Daddies

Back when we first started planning the NoSafeWord show we made the decision to work on creating the website, designing the logos and setting up our social media outlets while at the same time recording some episodes that were not for immediate release. We didn’t have the mechanism to push out the episodes at the time, but we also put these episodes in cold storage for two reasons.

One was we wanted to have a library of episodes for when we couldn’t record a show, knowing that the month of July for us means constant work travel. So while we are away from home we have several episodes ready to post automatically for us.

The second reason is that we wanted to get the practice in for the show, an opportunity for us to work out the kinks (see what I did there?). But it was also a chance for all of us on the show to work out a flow between the two of us that we wanted to present. This means that the episode you are about to hear it a little raw.

Of those shows we put in the can, this is the first one, so those of us here at NoSafeWord HQ, it was our first episode. At the time we thought the first one should be about something that we (Daddy Tony & Sparky) share together, the journey of being Daddies. It was interesting to talk about the perspective of being a new Daddy (Sparky) as well as someone who has identified as a Daddy so much that its his name (DFT).

In the coming weeks we will be sharing more of our canned episodes, and will be back to recording new episodes in August!

Episode 31 – Center for Sex Positive Culture

In our last show before our summer break, we wanted to have a discussion the fabulous Allena from the Center for Sex Positive Culture! She was one of the judges for the Best In Show event held by Seattle Pups and Handlers, SEA-PAH where we met her, and several people said, “You’ve got to have Allena on the show!”

How right they were.

And it worked out that we got to have Daniel, aka VisibleRestraint, on the show. These two have been close friends for a long time and perfect on the air together.

We talked all about the CSPC, including some history and what happens there. A lot of really interesting stories. We thinks this is helpful for everyone, even if you don’t come to Seattle to visit the center, perhaps there is a similar resource in your area. Or maybe you need to start one!

Episode 30 – NuckPup

We have been seeing and following the crazy world of NuckPup for a while now. This guy has a lot on his plate, with a devoted partner to a job that keeps him busy, local play, and now a puppy of his own as well. His partner is also his sub, though wasn’t necessarily always so, which is an interesting story itself. Then add to it that the puppy is moving in, the very weekend this episode airs, and you can see that Nuckpup and Nucksub are both about ready to have a big change in their life.

And given that we all know the puppy, pup Striker, who is one of the most adorable and nicest puppies we know, makes the story all the more interesting. We care about the puppy and glad he is finding a home life that he wants, so we celebrate this move for him.

This story has a little bit for everyone. Polyamory is certainly a part of it, as well as submission, puppy play and becoming a slave. Balancing a kink life, and a sub finding his inner Dom is also big here. But overall it is a profile on one kinkster out there that is attempting to live life to the fullest, and going for a life that may be a challenge but also very rewarding.

We also had a listener email that we thought was perfect for this show to address.

I think this one you are going to love!

DFT and Sparky,

I’m writing to thank you and to ask a question. I was recently turned on to the show by a friend, and the timing was perfect since I needed a new podcast to listen to. I drive 8-10 hours a night for work and catching up on old shows has made for very entertaining shifts over the last week.

The podcast is exactly the kind of thing I’d been looking for for a while and exactly what I’d been needing. As someone with a keen interest in kink but not much experience I’ve been looking for a way to learn more. The thought of the organized community has always been mildly intimidating, and you guys have done a lot to break down that assumption even just in the week I’ve been listening, which I appreciate. It’s especially helpful since I’m planning a move to Seattle this fall, and it’s nice to hear that I should be able to find my way into the community if I’m willing to reach out and look for opportunities.

The question I have is about how to make that transition. Often times on the show you guys go back and forth about finding new boys to play with or help learn, and I was curious how you’d advise someone interested in the other side of things to go about learning more. I think I have the beginnings of a good headspace as a Daddy and a top that I’d like to develop further and I want to build some physical skills to match as best I can. I’m looking forward to being able to explore more in a larger city after I move, but how do I go about learning to be a good Daddy or pup handler or rope top? It doesn’t feel like it’s as built into the system as a Daddy mentoring his boy.

I’m really enjoying the show, and I just finished the two-parter with Daddy Jeff, which has probably been the best episode yet for me when it comes to learning more about the community. Keep up the good work, and I’d appreciate any advise you to wizened Daddies can provide.

-James, @StudyChemistry

PS- Brett on the mic in the Daddy Jeff episode was a definite bonus; I think he’s got to have one of the sexiest voices I’ve heard in a long while!

Episode 29 – Tyesha and Hobbit, Part 2

After the great episode we had with Tyesha and Hobbit (see Part 1) we just had to continue on with the conversation in a part 2 episode. This one we decided to take up some topics regarding gender and gender identity.

The energy of this episode was amazing for both of us, having both a fun discussion but also really getting into some interesting discussions. We are very happy to have both of these awesome guests on the show!

Episode 28 – Tyesha and Hobbit, Part 1

We met up with Tyesha and Hobbit during the rehearsals of the recent Best in Show event put on by SEA-PAH. We had such a great time getting to know them that night that we had decided that they needed to be on the show! This was a wild time, where we cover a bit about who Hobbit and Tyesha are, and where they came from. We also chat about queer issues, titles, hoo-has, alpacas, and a variety of play.

We also spend some time talking about Mama Sandy Reinhardt, and the renowned Mama’s Family. You can find out more about her at mamasfamily.org. Hopefully we can get her on the show soon!

You are just going to have to hear this one to believe it!

Episode 27 – Spanking

A listener sent in a letter regarding some questions about spanking (see below) that inspired us to talk about spanking for a few minutes. We invited on Boy Trav to talk about his experiences. Like many episodes, it really felt like there was so much more we could talk about, but we still cover quite a bit.

If you have any questions about spanking, want to share your own stories or comment on anything we said, be sure to send in a mail to the show!

I came across an interesting article which claimed correlations between childhood spanking and sadomasochism. Here’s the link; the area in mention is under the section “Spanking and psychosexual development”. Can’t speak for everyone, but I wasn’t spanked as a child, yet I love to be beat like a SOB. Was wondering if you had an opinion about this article. http://nospank.net/sexdngrs.htm. Thanks, Jeff.

P.S. I love the show!! So grateful for all your informative, humorous info on all things kink. Keep it up!!    =))

Episode 26 – ABDL

Over Memorial weekend, Sparky’s boy moved in to the house, beginning a new step in the relationship between Boy Trav and his Daddy.  We have been excited to do a show about one of the big kinks Trav has had in his life, that being an ABDL (Adult Baby/Diaper Lover).

We try to take a journey of exploring this topic from the ground up, talking about what this is about and some of the basics, but then we wanted to take some time to talk about the headspace involved and the relationship between a Daddy and his little one.

This was an incredibly personal show that we are so happy to bring to you.

Episode 25 – Serious Bondage

Anyone that is a fan of Serious Male Bondage will remember seeing our own Daddy Tony and Mikey playing in several scenes on the site. They have been friends with the team over at Serious Bondage for a few years now.

When Dalton and Obsidian decided to stop in Seattle on the first leg of their vacation, it was obvious to ask them to come on the show. Even after driving all day up from San Francisco, they were still willing to join us for a night of just bondage discussion.

We cover a lot of different angles, and we learn a lot about what it takes to do bondage in both a personal and work balance. We had a lot of fun with this one!

Hey, Boundsock45 again. Thought I submit my question in a more formal way this time around rather then sending it to your guys recon’s instead. I just listened to your guys most recent podcast, which was great by the way, but something came to mind that I was curious about. How do you guys (and forgive me if this doesn’t make sense or whatever) balance the kinky side of your guys life with the normal stuff that goes on or does it just blur into perfect harmony? For me (at least for the time being) I try to keep my parents completely in the dark about my gay/kinkyness and try to keep all that stuff completely out of my normal life. If you guys get a chance,  I would love to hear your guys answer.

Episode 23 – Twisted Monk

A couple of years ago, Sparky got some Twisted Monk rope from his partner Damien for Christmas, and that is the only rope we have used since then. It is high quality rope that we absolutely love to use for all kinds of scenes.

One of the great parts of being in Seattle is that we have some very interesting Kinksters, so we had to bring in Monk knowing he is just down the road from us. We talk all about rope, how its made, and about quality differences in rope.

You have to check this one out, it was a wild one!

Episode 21 – Spreading (the word about) STDs

Thanks to a listener suggestion, we pulled together some experts on STI’s. Turns out we had two readily available to us. First is a good friend of TJ (listen to him and Brett on Episode 9) who is a local N.P. specializing in Infectious Disease and HIV. Karen Dykes (yes that is her name!) in fun and funny, and we couldn’t think of anyone better that could come talk to us from a health care provider point of view.

Also, Daddy Tony has spent many years as a volunteer and as a professional peer educator in the San Francisco community. He comes armed with years of experience talking about STDs and HIV from all kinds of backgrounds, including gay and kinky communities, so having his voice as a part of the show is critical perfect and I know he was very happy to be able to provide this information.

We made reference to some resources that are out there, which we will post up later this week in a new post. And be sure to check the show notes section for a reference to a TEDx talk about a possible public health message regarding reducing the spread of STDs sent in by Fossil9 (Thanks much Fossil!).
